Case in point: the PowerPoint party, where people get together to show each other presentations on various topics in the name of having fun. It's a chance to be creative and turn something you do at work into something silly and social. The rise of the PowerPoint party also speaks to the workification of our day-to-day lives. Perhaps it's no surprise that young adults who had their childhood activities scheduled down to the minute are embracing the PowerPoint party. If you absolutely insist on having a PowerPoint party, God bless.

Hopping from one mid-six-figure salary job in Big Tech to the next? More tech workers get laid offOver the last 18 months, tech workers say it's felt difficult to stay employed as round after round of layoffs have swept Big Tech and the broader industry. The tech job market got tougherTo add insult to injury, keeping a job in tech isn’t the only thing that’s more difficult. Aline Lerner, a former tech engineer and founder of interviewing.io, a site for tech recruiting and mock interviewing for tech job seekers, said it's now much more difficult to land a tech job, particularly at a high-profile or Big Tech company. “Anecdotally, I’d say it’s the hardest it’s been to get a tech job since probably the dot-com bust," Lerner said.

Yet I was one of the millions tuning into “The Golden Bachelor” premiere because I wanted to know how they would handle aging. As an older mom, I am fascinated by the media’s portrayal of older women. Consider this: the women of “The Golden Girls” — Blanche, Dorothy and Rose — were in their 50s in 1985, when the show about old women began. “Is anyone watching ‘The Golden Bachelor’ and thinking, ‘maybe I shouldn’t be so scared to get older…. “I feel like as someone in her 20s it’s scary, like how am I going to look when I’m older?

The "looksmaxxing" community is a group of mostly young men sharing tactics to improve their attractiveness. After trying the "soft" version of these techniques for a week, I feel the trend is inherently cruel and harmful. By the end of the week, I felt like looksmaxxing and its subcultures were a scam designed to reel in young, insecure people. While this sort of abusive community exists everywhere online, it seems particularly toxic and supercharged among young men. I found myself feeling sympathetic to the young men who feel like they need to perform these ridiculous rituals to love themselves.

A typical Louis Vuitton handbag can set you back a few thousand dollars, but this microscopic knockoff is even pricier. It's smaller than a grain of sea salt and comes with its own microscope to view it, MSCHF says. Kevin Wiesner, MSCHF's chief creative officer, told The New York Times that the collective hadn't obtained permission from Louis Vuitton to use the design. LVMH, which owns Louis Vuitton, did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. MSCHF says the handbag is "smaller than a grain of sea salt."

Arguably the biggest financial conference of the year just wrapped in Beverly Hills. Insider's Dakin Campbell, who was on the ground at Milken, has a report on the five biggest topics discussed this year. Dakin's report got me thinking about how Milken stacks up against another high-profile conference: Davos. Milken is also designed, thanks to its namesake, with a keen eye on what the finance industry wants, he added. Click here to read more about the biggest topics being discussed at the Milken Conference.
Hot Chat 3000 is a dating website where AI determines your "hotness" using huge datasets. When a user enters Hot Chat 3000, they're asked to upload a picture of themselves as electronic music hums in the background. "Hot Chat 3000 very deliberately sets out to expose, visualize, exacerbate these biases," the site says. Which is to say that no one should take their Hot Chat 3000 "hotness" score seriously. There are no names in the world of Hot Chat 3000; instead, everyone is identified by their score.

CNN —People magazine has crowned actor Chris Evans this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. The former “Captain America” star, who couldn’t appear on the show, was instead congratulated by Johnson on the set of their movie, “Red One.”“It means a lot coming from a former Sexiest Man Alive,” Evans tells Johnson in the video. Johnson, a 2016 Sexiest Man cover star, however, goes on to correct him: “I never give the title up….I’m Sexiest Man Alive in perpetuity, which means for life.”Evans, confused, tries to get clarification, but Johnson stops him. We’re sharing it!”Evans agrees and the two sexiest men alive live, apparently, happily ever after. But not before Johnson prompts his co-star to say something “sexy” into the camera and Evans obliges.

Dan dan noodlesIt’s nearly impossible to dislike China’s soul-comforting dan dan mian, or dan dan noodles. Dan dan noodles are named after the way they were originally sold more than 100 years ago – on a dan dan, a carrying pole, by street hawkers. Some think dan dan noodles should contain a dry mix of noodles, made with minced meat, chopped scallions, spices, crushed peanuts and various sauces. Others disagree, preferring dan dan noodles in a hot, spicy, salty and nutty broth albeit with similar ingredients. Similar to Hainanese chicken rice, the Wenchang version is often served with yellow chicken fat rice and chicken soup.
